St.David’ s Day.
by Teacher Hannah
St. David is the patron saint of Wales.
St David’s Day is a day that celebrates Welsh culture with parades, concerts and festivals of music and language.
In Schools around Wales, children dress up in traditional Welsh costumes, and usually take part in a concert called the ‘Eistedffodd’ where students are involved in a talent show. This includes singing, dancing and writing stories and poems.
This month, students in Joan Maragall learnt about the country Wales and typical Welsh traditions. This included learning a few phrases in the Welsh language and discovering typical food and symbols of Wales.
